Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color Review

I like my natural hair color, but once in a while it's good to liven things up. I typically dye my hair at home, unless I want highlights, in which case I make a trip to my local salon. When it comes to choosing hair color products at home, I normally use Clairol Natural Instincts. It’s gentle on my hair and is semi-permanent.  I honestly prefer semi or non-permanent hair color, because it gives me a nice change that’s only temporary, so I'm not actually locked into the new color.

I was recently contacted by Vocalpoint with an offer to try out the new Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color. Because this brand is a Clairol product and non-permanent, I was fully on board and excited to give it a try!

I naturally have light to medium brown hair with a hint of auburn highlights, but prior to using Clairol’s Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color I did have a set of blond highlights that were done during the Springtime months. Needless to say, I was looking forward to a change. When using any color for my hair, I like to match it with the seasons—light in the warmer months and dark for the cooler months. I usually go with a dark auburn color during this time of the year, but decided to try a deep brown color, instead. I wanted to cover the blond highlights and go with something a little more drastic, so I chose Dark Brown Number 79. (Clairol’s Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color is available in 12 different shades)

Here is a photo of my hair color prior to the change:

Nice ‘n Easy's Non-Permanent Hair Color doesn’t contain any ammonia. This is one of the things that I initially noticed when first applying it to my hair. It was really gentle and didn’t put off that harsh chemical smell that some dyes do. I'm really sensitive to that, so this aspect was definitely a plus. Applying the color was easy and the bottle had the typical pointed nozzle for precise placement to the root area. The wait time after application is only 15 minutes, so it’s quick and easy. I did get a little dye on my hands, which must have seeped through the plastic gloves that were provided. If I had to make one recommendation, it would be for Clairol to swap out those gloves with the rubber-like version that they use in the Natural Instincts box. These seem to be more durable than the thin plastic gloves.

My absolute favorite aspect of Clairol’s Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color, was the 2-Minute Moisture-Rich Conditioner packet. You are supposed to apply the conditioner after you rinse off the excess dye. I really wish they’d bottle this stuff, because it made my hair so soft and silky.

...AND I LOVED THE END RESULT (The picture, below, is not the greatest...sorry folks!):

I'd say it is a bit drastic--just the way I wanted it!

The final verdict: I'm a new fan of Clairol’s Nice ‘n Easy Non-Permanent Hair Color. I love the way my hair looks. It’s shiny, soft and the color is awesome! This brand is a keeper and I will definitely consider it if I ever need another change to my normal hair color.
