STORE SALE CYCLES

You may have already noticed that some items go on sale during certain times of the year. Knowing your sales cycles gives you an advantage at planning your shopping trips accordingly. It also provides a great opportunity to stock on items when they are at their best prices. You could build a nice stockpile according to what’s on sale. 

I have compiled a general list, below, of what you may find on sale during certain times of the year:


JANUARY: It’s a new year and there’s lots going on. Look for Super Bowl Party foods, holiday clearance items from December. It’s National Oatmeal Month, as well. Also, with New Years resolutions, be on the look out for diet and health food sales.
  • Canned Chili
  • Cheese
  • Chicken Wings
  • Cold & Flu Medicine
  • Frozen Foods (Pizza, Appetizers and Finger Foods. Also, meals such as Healthy Choice and Lean Cuisine)
  • Frozen Pizza
  • Health Foods such as Granola Bars and Cereals (Think Special K and Kashi, etc.)
  • Holiday Clearance Items
  • Hot Dogs
  • Miscellaneous Snacks (Crackers, Chips & Dip, Nuts, etc.)
  • Oatmeal
  • Soda
  • Vitamins
  • Weight Loss & Diet Items

FEBRUARY: It's Valentines Day and Chinese New Year. It’s also National Canned Foods Month.
  • Asian Food Products
  • Breakfast Foods
  • Canned Goods
  • Chocolate (Valentine’s Day) & Clearance

MARCH: It's Saint Patrick’s Day and Frozen Food Month.
  • Cabbage
  • Corned Beef
  • Fresh Potatoes
  • Frozen Food Products

APRIL: Easter is here and so is the spring season. Many spring cleaning items will  be on sale.
  • Baking Supplies (Mixes, Sugar, Flour, Spices, Chips, Dried Fruits, Nuts, Crusts, Butter & Cream, Condensed Milk, etc.)
  • Cleaning Items
  • Easter Candy and Clearance
  • Ham
  • Papers Towels and Trash Bags

MAY: Look for sales on Memorial Day products, as well as Cinco De Mayo.
  • Condiments (Salad Dressings, Mustard, Ketchup, BBQ Sauce)
  • Grilling & BBQ Items (Charcoal, Fluid, Lighters)
  • Hot Dogs, Burgers, and Buns
  • Hot Sauce & Salsa
  • Tortillas

JUNE: It’s National Dairy Month. Also look out for Pre-Independence Day sales.
  • Condiments (Salad Dressings, Mustard, Ketchup, and BBQ Sauce)
  • Dairy Products (Ice Cream, Butter, Cream Cheese, Yogurt, etc.)
  • Grilling & BBQ Items (Charcoal, Fluid, Lighters)
  • Hot Dogs, Burgers, and Buns

JULY: Independence Day and National Ice Cream Month.
  • Chips & Dip
  • Condiments (Salad Dressings, Mustard, Ketchup, BBQ Sauce)

  • Hot Dogs, Burgers, and Buns
  • Ice Cream

AUGUST: Summer is ending and school season is starting.
  • Juice Boxes
  • Lunch Box Foods and Snacks
  • School Supplies (Pencils & Pens, Crayons, Notebooks, Binders, Paper, Folders, etc.)

SEPTEMBER: Labor Day is this month, which means last minute BBQ items will be on sale. Also school has officially started.

OCTOBER: It is National Seafood Month.

NOVEMBER: You will find a lot of Thanksgiving dinner and dessert items on sale this month.
