I'm happy to have had the recent opportunity to test out a waterproof crib mattress protector pad by Universal Comfy Co.
It’s inevitable, when you have young children leaks are going to happen. It’s nice to know that there are products out there that can make your life easier when those moments arise. This waterproof mattress protector pad is definitely one of those products.
One of the first things that I noticed upon handling the pad was that the top is extremely soft and has a nice quilted layer that isn't overly thick. Made with a breathable bamboo viscose fiber terry cloth that contains Micro Gap Technology, the pad actually helps to regulate your child’s body temperature. This, in turn, creates a safer and more comfortable sleeping experience, offering any parent peace of mind when it comes to their child’s sleep.

The pad is fitted to accommodate most standard size crib mattresses. There is a mesh material that stretched really nicely over the corners of the mattress, but at the same time it fit perfectly snug. Even after putting a regular crib sheet over the pad, it still laid completely flat. We own other waterproof mattress pads that aren’t fitted, so they just lay over the mattress and have a tendency to bulk or bunch up. You can even see the outlines of those other mattress pads right through the sheets. The fitted aspect of the Universal Comfy Co mattress pad is such a nice bonus that our other pads don’t have.

One of the other great things that I have discovered about this pad is that it does an amazing job at keep that “swooshing” noise at bay. You know those annoying loud crinkling and rustling sounds that you get with other waterproof pads? My son is a light sleeper, so the less noise the better, and this pad really does help to make any toss and turn movement completely quiet.
Another plus is that the pad is completely machine washable and dryer safe, which makes it so easy to care for. Busy parents can all get on board with that! When I first read the packaging, I noticed that there was also a statement claiming that the pad would actually get softer after washing. Whenever I have a new product for my son, I always make sure it is washed before using, whether it’s a new toy or in this case a mattress pad. The one pet peeve that I've had with previous pads that we’ve owned, is that they are never quite the same after washing, and the quality only declines after each and every wash (ripping or pilling of the fabric). Since this product claimed that it would get softer after washing, I was ready to put that claim to the test. I must say I was extremely surprised by the truth behind it, given my previous experience with other products like this. The pad actually ended up being so much softer, and in no way shape or form had the quality decreased. It actually got better! What a breath of fresh air!
A few other important facts about the Universal Comfy Co Waterproof Crib Mattress Protector:
- The material is naturally antibacterial, antimicrobial, antifungal, and hypoallergenic, preventing bacteria, dust mites, and mold from breeding into the mattress. It even repels bed bugs (ewww).
- This product is created without the use of chemicals and flammable materials. It doesn’t reek of strong unnatural odors that sometimes occur in similar products. It’s also BPA free and contains no Latex, Lead, Phthalates, or PVC, which makes it perfect for children with sensitive skin.
- The company actually stands behind their product so much, that they offer a 100% No-Hassle Lifetime Guarantee, so you can actually purchase with confidence.
Overall, I’m extremely pleased with this product. If you are looking for a high-quality product to protect your child's crib mattress, I definitely recommend giving this waterproof crib mattress protector a try. You can find it on Amazon for only $29.95.
