All Things Bright and Beautiful {Picture Book Giveaway} #FlyBy

All Things Bright and Beautiful–many of you out there may be very familiar with this precious children's hymn written by poet, Cecil Frances Alexander. For those who may be just hearing about it for the first time, the hymn was written back in 1848 and is part of Alexander's book, Hymns for Little Children. Throughout the years this hymn has become a favorite for Christian congregations and families everywhere.

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful,
The Lord God made them all.

You'll also hear many different adaptations of it, but the one thing that stays the same is those beautiful words that were written by Ms. Alexander.

Here's a beautiful version conducted by John Rutter during the The Mark Thallander Foundation Choir Festival:

Here's an adorable version done by a little boy (what a sweetie!):

Just recently, we were blessed to receive All Things Bright and Beautiful in a fantastic picture book rendition. The book combines the sweet classic children's hymn with amazing illustrations done by Katy Hudson.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
A joyful, artistic rendering of a favorite childhood hymn. God's touch can be seen everywhere: in the rivers and streams, in the forest and its creatures, and in each of us. And nowhere is this more lyrically celebrated than in the words of "All Things Bright and Beautiful," first published by Cecil Frances Alexander in 1848. Here, artist Katy Hudson brings new joy to this mainstay of churches and Sunday school classes with her fresh and engaging watercolors. Readers will be swept along as they follow three young children who delight in a day filled with the discovery of "all things bright and beautiful.” This striking book is a beautiful reminder that every good thing we see is from God. Ages 4 to 7.

ABOUT THE ILLUSTRATOR:
Katy Hudson was raised in Middlesbrough, England, and started her career as a small child drawing on freshly painted walls. Her parents quickly encouraged drawing with pencil and paper instead. The idea stuck, and after earning a degree in illustration, Katy is now a freelance illustrator. Katy works at a desk in a studio within Old London Library and likes to tap dance in her spare time.

Picture books are a favorite here in my home, especially when they include a lot of details for my little one to look at. Katy Hudson does not disappoint with her artwork that includes gorgeous watercolors in an array of beautiful hues. My son enjoys engaging in the pictures that incorporate all of nature's beauty with majestic mountains, blooming flowers, and gentle woodland creatures.

With each turn of the page, children will read a verse from the All Things Bright and Beautiful hymn and view artwork that connects to each word. The overall theme shows a group of young children, two girls and one boy, as they go about their day taking in the wonders that the Lord has created. He has even blessed them with eyes to "see" and lips to "tell" of His creations.

Cecil Frances Alexander had written an amazing hymn that 's stood the test of time and has become a cherished favorite in many Christian homes. Katy Hudson really did an amazing job at using her own artistic talent to bring each word to life in this delightful children's book. No matter what age your children are, they're sure to love this wonderful rendition of All Things Bright and Beautiful as they learn about God's incredible handiwork.
