One of a Kind Custom Party Favors from One More Sunshine

The upcoming holiday season isn't the only thing we're looking forward to celebrating here in the Our Everyday Harvest household. My little one's birthday is just around the corner, so this is a time when I go into full "party planning mode." Before becoming a mother I couldn't wait for moments like this, and now that they're here, I always make the most of them. Whether we're expecting five guests or twenty-five, I like to go all out for the party–after all, it's the celebration of my sweet little boy!

I don't typically partake in a whole lot of crafting, but I do put whatever skills that I have to good use for event planning. Having a background in graphic design also comes in handy. Last year, we did a Little Blue Truck party theme–I designed everything from the invitations, to the party favors, to the burlap pennant "Happy Birthday" banner. Being in charge of planning our events is a lot of fun, but it can also take up a ton of time, especially when you have a million other things going on. I'm such a huge fan of Etsy. You can find so many unique odds and ends there. I always like to peruse the shops to see if there is anything else I could add to the big day that might save me some time. Just recently I was introduced to an Etsy shop called One More Sunshine. The owner, Mary, creates these darling little magnet party favors out of wooden clothespins!

How neat are these! They are decoupaged with your child's favorite objects or characters:

A LITTLE BACKGROUND ON ONE MORE SUNSHINE:
Crafting has always been a passion of mine and now I really got the impetus to get a shop up and running. My three year-old daughter has a rare genetic condition called pseudoachondroplasia. There is very minimal federal funding available to support research into the condition, so I have spearheaded a fundraising effort to support work being done at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. I will donate 10% of all the shop's proceeds to this research - I urge you to visit www.supportPSACH.com for more information and for other ways to help.

Oh....and the store name. If you have toddlers, you know how they will try to stall bedtime as long as possible. My daughter's bedtime song is You are My Sunshine, and she will continually ask for 'one more sunshine Mommy" until I must just close her door. The phrase makes me smile so I would like it to live on forever, as I know she will not ask this of me forever.

Yes, Mary I know all too well how little ones just love prolonging those sleepy time moments! I sing this song to my own son, so this story made my heart melt. Children are so precious!

Picking this year's birthday theme was a lot of fun, because my son is at an age where he can add his personal input. Of course, with a toddler, that meant requesting a different theme every other day. We finally narrowed it down to Thomas the Train. My son just loves that "really useful engine" and One More Sunshine was able to create the perfect favor design for the party.

These magnetic clips are so adorable they'd work perfectly as standalone party favors. Guests can use them on the fridge to hold important papers/lists, while being reminded of the fun time they had at the celebration. Of course, you could always take it up a notch and include a little something extra by attaching the clip to a treat bag, a special photo, or even a thank you card.

To add a little extra personalized touch to the favors, I was able to order them with scalloped cardstock cutouts that feature a special birthday party message printed on each one (I just blotted the wording out in these photos for privacy purposes). They came out so adorable–I can't say enough great things about Mary's work. We love them–and the shipping was super fast!

No matter what your child's favorite character is, the One More Sunshine Etsy shop can create fun designs that everyone will love:

They're not just perfect for birthday celebrations, but also for showers and baptisms:

You can even have a photo decoupaged onto the clips. Aren't these beautiful?

With Christmas coming up, these holiday themed clips would be a really cool alternative to placing bows on top of wrapped gifts:

Those clips are really cute! I like the idea of using them as a party favor. I also thought they would be good, since you can personalize them, on my refrigerator, to hold my kids' school schedules. I could pick a different theme for each kid. Thanks for sharing.

That's a really great idea, Brenda! Since she can also add photos to the clips, you could have them designed with a photo of each of your children.
