Wake Up to the Word: 365 Devotions to Inspire You Each Day by Joyce Meyer

During the early morning hours, I like to fit in a bit of one on one time with God. Of course with a little one who also enjoys getting up early, I sometimes have to keep it short and sweet. Spending personal quiet time reading God's word or catching up on a devotional usually takes up more time, so I often reserve those moments for when everyone is asleep at night.

Wake Up to the Word: 365 Devotions to Inspire You Each Day, a new devotional by Joyce Meyer, is one that I've been reading that is intended for the start of the day. Although it's usually a time crunch for me first thing in the morning, the devotions in this book are quick and easy to read, which gives me the opportunity to start the day with a special message of encouragement.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
In her uplifting new devotional Joyce Meyer provides you with powerful words--one for every day of the year. Each day's devotion offers a word to focus upon as a catalyst for positive change in your life. These words, along with relevant scripture and practical advice from Joyce, will help you achieve greater closeness with God, which unlocks the great things He has in store for your life. With daily guided encouragement and prayer, as well as Joyce's structured plan for spending time God, you'll be able to tap into His strength to help you overcome life's obstacles and achieve your best. And the words in this devotional will help put your in the frame of mind to receive that power each day.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Joyce Meyer is one of the world's leading practical Bible teachers. A #1 New York Times bestselling author, her books have helped millions of people find hope and restoration. Through Joyce Meyer Ministries, she teaches on a number of topics with a particular focus on the mind, mouth, moods and attitudes. Her candid communication style allows her to share openly and practically about her experiences so others can apply what she has learned to their lives. Joyce has authored nearly 100 books, which have been translated into 100 languages. More than 30 million copies of her books have been sold.

Wake Up to the Word offers something a little different than a standard devotional. As it states in the title, Joyce has written this devotional with the hopes that the reader will take one "word" and allow it to change the course of their day. You see, each devotion starts off with a word, the definition of that word, followed by practical advice on how to apply it to your day. The devotion then ends with a scripture passage to reflect on.

For example, one devotion focuses on the word "Keep" (To preserve; to retain). The discussion of that day concentrates on how to keep a steady mind-set, focusing on God and never loosing track, regardless of what heads your way. The devotion ends with scripture from Colossians 3:2.

And set your minds and keep them set on what is above, not on the things that are on the earth.

This is an excellent devotional to get my day going. The book is set up for each day of the year, notating the dates from January through December. I personally started it on the date that I received it and went on from there (although I have been sneaking a peek at some of the earlier months). I found that when I miss a morning, I can just read it that night. This ends my evening with that same inspirational message of hope, which is actually just as nice as starting my day with it. Of course, as with all of Joyce Meyer's works, she has a amazing way of speaking to her audience through practical pearls of wisdom.

If you are looking for a new devotional to start your mornings or even end your days with (depending on your own personal schedule), I definitely recommend picking up Wake Up to the Word by Joyce Meyer, which officially releases the second week of October 2016.

I love the picture on the cover of the book. It looks like a relaxing place. That makes me want to read the book. I never thought about reading a devotional in the morning, but it sounds like a great idea. That would be neat to have a word to focus on throughout the day. I think it would help me stay positive in the midst of a rough day. Thanks for sharing.

I know exactly what you mean, Brenda. Having a main focus of the day is such a nice concept. That's what I really like about this devotional.
