Bible Trivia, Jokes & Fun Facts for Kids by Troy Schmidt

There are many ways to encourage children to learn more about the Bible. One book that we've had the pleasure of reading takes Biblical history to a whole different level by adding a little entertainment in the mix. Bible Trivia, Jokes & Fun Facts for Kids contains an incredible selection of activities and facts that are bound to get children excited about learning the Bible.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
What could be more fun than seeing kids laugh and learn at the same time? With hundreds of Bible-based jokes, trivia, and word games, this book is guaranteed to entertain boys and girls for hours. Every page of this book will tease their brains and tickle their funny bones with chapters like "Bible Banter," "Matches Made in Heaven," and "Are You Smarter Than King Solomon?"

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Troy Schmidt began writing animation in Los Angeles in 1985 and worked on such shows as Dennis the Menace, Heathcliff, and Flintstone Kids. In 1992, he moved to Orlando to write for The Mickey Mouse Club. Troy created and wrote a total of thirteen videos for Thomas Nelson, including an adaptation of Max Lucado's Hermie, A Common Caterpillar. He also wrote over twenty books for Thomas Nelson. Troy recently released This Means War: A Strategic Prayer Journal, coauthored by Stephen and Alex Kendrick. He was also the consulting producer for The American Bible Challenge with Jeff Foxworthy for three seasons. He has written a daily devotional tied to the series, The American Bible Challenge Daily Reader, Volume 1 (Thomas Nelson), and a board game based on the show (Talicor). He has three children's books in the "Their Side of the Story" collection (B&H Publishing) based on the whale from the story of Jonah, a frog in Exodus, and a raven on Noah's Ark.

Bible Trivia, Jokes & Fun Facts for Kids offers a really nice compilation of games, trivia, jokes, and facts to help children get more involved and interested in studying the Bible. The book is set up in chapters to include a vast array of tasks and brain teasers. Kids can match people in the Bible to their family members, fill in the blanks to Psalms, and even create words from other words in the Bible. Then there are the jokes for added humor, which many kids will find equally amusing. There were some that were not 100% to my liking, but then there were those that did give me a good chuckle, like these:

Where did the wise men shop for the baby Jesus?

Bed, Bethlehem, and Beyond

Which NFL football team never invited David to the game?

The Giants

I'm not afraid to admit that I was also able to learn a thing or two from this book. In fact, I found a lot of what's included particularly interesting. You see, while there are tons of banter and activities offered to test children's knowledge of the Bible, there are several areas that also include majors facts and information. Did you know "A drop in the bucket" originated from a verse in Isaiah 40? Was there really a left-handed army during Biblical times? Where can you find the longest verse in the Bible? You can discover answers and explanations to these three questions and much, much more in this book.

One chapter that stood out for me is Bible Lists. This chapter compiles lists of various facts, people, and events that occurred throughout Biblical history. Kids can learn seven amazing facts about the Book of Psalms, Twenty-seven people who saw angels, and eleven medical conditions that Jesus healed. It's also worth mentioning that the last chapter of the book, Are You on the Road to Heaven, takes a more serious side by offering several scripture passages on salvation, as well as a prayer to give our life over to Jesus by asking Him into our hearts.

Bible Trivia, Jokes & Fun Facts for Kids is a fun and amusing way to get children involved in learning about the people, places, and events throughout Biblical times. There's a lot inside to keep both younger and older children interested and engaged. As I had mentioned above, I was equally enthralled with this book, since it had a lot of interesting facts and information included.

This would be a great book for my son! I could also use the jokes and facts on his lunch box notes.
