I'd Rather be Your Mommy Book

As a mother, I can honestly say that even the littlest things set me off in gushy "mom" tears," like say for instance films, commercials or even books about the blessings of motherhood. Recently, we had the wonderful opportunity to read I'd Rather Be Your Mommy from Home School Adventure Co. This is a precious book that offers a sweet reminder to our children about how much being a mom means to us, more than anything in this world.

I've spent a large chunk of my life going to college and having a career, but there was still something missing. I always knew that I wanted to be a mother and felt in my spirit that I had a calling for it. Year after year, I prayed for a miracle and when nothing happened, I eventually became convinced that maybe motherhood really wasn't my calling after all. Of course, through the tears and heartache, I never gave up asking God and often wondered why. A lot of time had passed and when I least expected, it happened, I found out that I was pregnant! Oh what a joyous day that was and even more joyous on the day that my son was born!

Stacey Farrell, author of I'd Rather Be Your Mommy and owner of Home School Adventure Co., considers her role as a wife and mother to her two sons to be her "greatest work and privilege." I could totally relate to this, because I feel the same way about my own family.

I'd Rather Be Your Mommy is told through a mother's perspective and reminds little ones that no matter what, being their mother is the greatest thing. The story opens with the not so fancy aspects of motherhood, like changing dirty diapers, spit ups, and nightly feeding sessions. The opening of this book reminded me of my own little one who woke up every hour on the hour to nurse. Trust me, I never got any sleep during that time, but it was totally worth it for this precious love of my life. The story then moves on to highlight how even the most prestigious careers (astronaut, movie star, etc.) and daring feats (climbing a mountain and reaching the top) can't compare to being their mother and that is better than being or doing anything else. How true!

I received a digital version of this book, but it can also be purchased as a physical hardcover copy. The words are powerful, but each line is short and sweet, so your little one can also read along with you when they're ready. My son enjoyed the illustrations which are actual photographs with a sort of digitally enhanced magazine effect. He especially liked the photos of the babies, but one of his all time favorite pages is the one that shows a diver swimming with a whale shark (he just loves sea creatures).

In addition to a sweet and precious story to read to my son, we also received a digital copy of the I'd Rather Be Your Mommy Coloring Book Edition and the I'd Rather Be Your Mommy Print Set.

The coloring book matches the regular book with the same illustrations and story text. The only exception is that the illustrations are outlines set up for my son to color. I even joined in on the coloring fun with this one.

The print set was also a nice addition. It includes three full color printable images from the actual book. Low and behold–one of those three prints includes my son's favorite! I immediately printed and laminated this one for him to have

Of course, he had to rush and get one of his fabulous little whale shark pals to pose in the picture!

The birth of my son was one of the happiest days of my life! I make sure to let him know how blessed I am to be his mother, each and every day.  Never does a day go by that I don't thank God for having him in my life. That's why books like I'd Rather Be Your Mommy are so special. Reading this to my son, I felt as if I was the one who actually wrote it, because so much of what is written is true to my own feelings. The precious words and illustrations throughout offer a sweet reminder to my little boy on just how much he means to me.

Aww, what a sweet book! It's always great to find a book you can relate to. I'm so glad you have your son! I like that he got his shark to include in the picture.
