Hope for Each Day: 365 Devotions for Kids Giveaway + Review

As I sit hear writing this post, looking out my window, I can't help but get excited that spring is finally here. Up here in NY, we've finally made the transition from cold, cloudy days to warm, sunny ones. I know all of this doesn't have much to do with a book review, but when I look down at the beautiful cover of our newest devotional Hope for Each Day, it reminds me of the mild, sunny days of spring. You see the front cover displays a cheerful picture of the sun with a smiling face. Given the title of this book, the illustration is quite fitting as it introduces a special collection of encouraging daily devotions that will speak to a child's heart.

Perhaps the title of this children's devotional rings a bell to some of you who may be reading this. That is because it's actually a child-friendly version of the original Hope for Each Day that was written for adults. Reverend Billy Graham offers the same topics and messages of God's love from the original devotional, but this one is actually adapted in a way that's easier for children to relate to. The fact that both devotionals correspond with each other, allows for the perfect opportunity to engage in Bible study time together as a family.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Billy Graham, the most recognizable pastor in the world, has sold millions of books, and now there is a new Billy Graham book especially for kids! Hope for Each Day: 365 Devotions for Kids takes the bestselling message of the adult devotional and offers devotions filled with the same biblical truths in kid-friendly language.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Billy Graham, world-renowned preacher, evangelist, and author has delivered the gospel message to more people face-to-face than anyone in history and has ministered on every continent of the world in more than 185 countries. Millions have read his inspirational classics, including Angels, Peace with God, The Holy Spirit, Hope for the Troubled Heart, How to Be Born Again, The Journey, Nearing Home, and The Reason for My Hope.

Billy Graham is a well-known pastor that has been sharing the word of God for a very long time. I'm personally a fan of his sermons and written works, so I knew that Hope for Each Day was a book that I would welcome into my son's life as a guide to learning God's truth in His word. This devotional contains 365 days worth of special messages of hope and faith. Each devotion is listed with a specific calendar date from January 1st through December 31st. Since we just received the book several weeks ago, we decided to start with the current month, but have been flipping around through other dates in the calendar year.

Even though this is a children's devotional, I found the topics equally appealing to adults, which definitely makes me want to go out and buy the original version for myself. Some of the topics of discussion include being humble, having assurance of the promise that God had given us, finding fulfillment in spiritual gifts rather than worldly things, and letting our conscience guide us in doing what's right. Illustrations are very limited in this book, as to not take away from the focus of what is being read, although each page is lined with a few colored embellishments that give this devotional an aesthetically pleasing look.

Each devotion begins with scripture to accompany the message of the day. This is also the case with the start of each month, which contains an additional scripture passage. A yellow ribbon bookmark is included, so that children can keep their place as they read on. In the back of the book there are a few handy features to help children as they proceed with their studies of the Bible. These include two reading checklists, 30 Days with Jesus, which walks children through the days of Jesus' life, and 90 Days Through the Bible, that highlights the major occurrences in both the Old and New Testaments. There's even a couple of extra lined pages for children to journal on.

I truly believe every child needs a really good devotional to read as they take their journey in learning the word of God. Bill Graham's children's edition of Hope for Each Day is one that I can wholeheartedly recommend to parents who are seeking to help their children not only build their personal relationship with the Lord, but to strengthen it, as well.

Not only has Tommy Nelson blessed me with the opportunity to share this beautiful devotional with my family and readers, but they have also been gracious enough to provide a copy to one lucky reader. I, personally, have read most everything by Mr. Graham. His wife also has some good books. She wrote a children's book called One Wintry Night. My 4yo really likes it. Its a bit long so maybe not for the younger ones. But I get all tingly when I read it.

Hi Dana! Thank you for the recommendation of One Wintry Night. It does looks like a really nice book and I am such a fan of Richard Jesse Watson's illustrations. I just added it to our reading wishlist. :-)

I first checked it out from the library and loved it so much, I bought it, lol.

It's a great idea! That's what we do with books and music–we borrow them from the library and if we like something we'll then purchase it.
