Cover Girl Blastflipstick Review

I recently participated in another great BzzAgent campaign that I would love to tell you about. For this campaign I was given the opportunity to try Cover Girl’s Blastflipstick.

For those who are not familiar with this product, it is a super blendable 2-in-1 lipstick duo. Each stick comes with two separate colors, one on each end, in hues that are specially designed by expert make-up artist, Pat McGrath. One color boasts a bold tone, while the other offers something a little more light and shimmery. The idea behind the Blastflipstick is to create the “ombre” look that is currently trending. This is basically creating tones that are monochromatic or appearing to be the same color with gradual changes from light to dark or vice versa.

BzzAgent sent me three separate Cover Girl Blastflipsticks to try out. Here are the color combinations that I received:

COLOR COMBINATION #1:
Minx, which features one deep brown side and one shimmery copper side

COLOR COMBINATION #2:
Vixen, which features one fuchsia side and one shimmery light pink side

COLOR COMBINATION #3:
Stunner, which features one bright reddish-pink side and one shimmery gold side

I honestly loved the creamy texture of the Blastflipstick. The application is really smooth, and I was actually surprised to see how long the color lasted on my lips.

I also had a lot of fun mixing and matching colors. This is something that I tend do with traditional lipstick products. I'll sometimes use two or three different shades to create a unique look, so the Blastflipstick was right up my alley! I played with all sorts of color combinations, not only creating the “ombre” look, but even layering the colors to create brand new shades.

My favorite duos were Minx and Vixen, because I tend to wear a lot of pinks and browns on my lips. These colors were the hues that I would normally purchase at the store. I also actually ended up creating a new color combination using both the darker side of Minx and the side of Vixen. The end result had a dark magenta hue, which I absolutely loved!  Stunner was nice, but these particular shades weren’t to my liking. I typically prefer wearing a darker red than this bright one.

The suggested retail price of the Cover Girl Blastflipstick is $8.49, but if you think about it, you are getting two separate lip colors on each stick, so it really averages out in price. Currently there are thirteen different color combinations on the market, and they can be found at most major retailers.

If you' considering giving the Cover Girl Blastflipstick a try, you can  head on over to Proctor and Gamble’s website to print a coupon.
