Capture the Moment: The Modern Photographer’s Guide to Finding Beauty in Everyday and Family Life by Sarah Wilkerson #BookReview

Capture the Moment: The Modern Photographer’s Guide to Finding Beauty in Everyday and Family Life is not your everyday photography how-to book. This hardcover has 256 pages chock full of ideas and guidelines on not only getting the right shot, but it also discusses the importance of seizing those rare and special moments in life.

The book, itself, is set up with various chapters, each with a separate theme such as Natural Light or Storytelling. Each page of those chapters include some type of tip or suggestion that is summed up in a sentence or a small paragraph. This is an aspect that I really enjoyed. Since there aren’t loads and loads of text to weed through in order to find the main point; it serves wonderfully as a quick reference guide for photographers, both beginner and advanced. It even includes a technical reference section that touches up on some very important photography basics such as aperture priority and exposure.

Author, Sarah Wilkerson, is an Army wife, mother of four, photographer, and currently teaches advanced courses in photography composition. She is also the CEO of Clickin Moms, the photography industry’s largest female-photographer social network.

Along with a beautiful collection of photographs to guide you along the way, you’ll also find tips and advice on how to capture your own collection of awe-inspiring photos. Each suggestion really provides the reader with a more out of the box approach to taking pictures. Capture the Moment: The Modern Photographer’s Guide to Finding Beauty in Everyday and Family Life is definitely not the type of book that you’ll want to hide away on a book shelf. With it’s composition of stunning and inspiring imagery, it would also make a fantastic coffee table book for guests.
