Sharing the Word of God with Little Builders Everywhere: The Faith Builders Bible

Building blocks are a classic toy that children of all ages take delight in! They come in all sorts of types, shapes, and sizes. My son loves his Mega Blocks, which are a larger, more suitable version for younger children. Of course, one day we will have the special privilege of purchasing his very first set of Legos. Who doesn't love I right? I remember when I was a little girl, I would have a blast coming up with new things to build, and I know my son will also enjoy his first set when that day comes. What better way to share the Word of God with your little builder then by giving them their very own Faith Builders Bible.

The Faith Builders Bible, NIrV uses the popularity of brick-building pieces to engage children with the Word of God. Includes 24 full-color pages of illustrations plus the complete New International Reader's Version (NIrV) of the Bible (from Genesis to Revelation) in a very readable, 9-point font size.

The exterior of the Bible has a nice sturdy hard cover with a building block peg design on the front and back. I don't think I could have come up with a better title. I actually found it quite fitting with the whole building block theme. The inside includes thin delicate printed pages that you would typically see in many adult Bibles. This is not necessarily a bad thing, since it's beautifully designed, however given that the age group for this Bible starts at six years old, I was a bit surprised. In the back of the Bible there is a dictionary of common terms and a list of Great Bible Stories, which come in handy.

Since this is a children's Bible with a building block toy theme, I would have liked to see additional features and inclusions pertaining to that. What the Bible does offer is twenty-four colored pages scattered throughout, with photos of building block creations that depict actual Biblical events. I thought these photos were rather neat. If we ever decide to create our own building block reenactments of the Bible, my son and I now have some sort of visual to go off of. Each of the colored pages contain a short Bible story with reference verses to look up and a special "Building Block Verse." In the beginning of the Bible, you'll also find a Building with Books of the Bible section that breaks down the many books found in the Old and New Testaments.

Dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith,
Let the Holy Spirit guide and help you when you pray. - Jude 1:20

Even through this particular Bible was a bit on the simple side when compared to other children's Bibles, it is still very nicely done–after all the main thing that matters is the text, and the NIrV (New International Reader's Version) provides an easy translation for children to follow along to. Having said that, there are still enough bonus features in here to amaze your little builder. If you have a child or know of any who are fans of their building blocks, then the Faith Builders Bible is a really nice, solid Bible to get for them.
