Jesus Calling: My First Bible Storybook by Sarah Young Review + GIVEAWAY

Sarah Young is a brilliant author–I've actually become quite fond of her many literary works. For those who may not be familiar, she is the author of Jesus Calling, a wonderful devotional for adults that was written as if Jesus is speaking right to the reader. Young also released an additional children's version of Jesus Calling, and even a toddler/preschooler board book called Jesus Calling for Little Ones. All of these books are excellent resources for both young and old. I'm especially happy to announce that the author has recently added a new treasure to her series called Jesus Calling My First Bible Storybook.

You already know and love the Jesus Calling® brand, and the new Jesus Calling My First Bible Storybook is the perfect way to introduce your littlest ones to the Bible and to Jesus and His love. You and your family will enjoy this Bible storybook night after night. Jesus Calling My First Bible Storybook includes simple Bible stories accompanied by short messages of Jesus’ love for children. Delightful art makes this a perfect companion to Jesus Calling for Little Ones.

Sarah Young, the author of the new 365-day devotional Jesus Always and bestselling Jesus Calling, has sold more than 16 million books worldwide. Jesus Calling® has appeared on all major bestseller lists. Sarah’s writings include Jesus Calling®, Jesus Today™, Jesus Lives™, Dear Jesus, Jesus Calling® for Little Ones, Jesus Calling® Bible Storybook, Jesus Calling®: 365 Devotions for Kids, and Peace in His Presence—each encouraging readers in their journey toward intimacy with Christ. Sarah and her husband were missionaries in Japan and Australia for many years. They currently live in the United States.

Jesus Calling My First Bible Storybook is very reminiscent of Jesus Calling for Little Ones. It's also a padded board book that comes in a smaller size, perfect for little hands. The book might be small on the outside, but the message inside packs a powerful promise of Jesus' never-ending love.

Inside, you'll find a selection of summarized Bible stories beginning from God's creation to Jesus' resurrection. Each story is short and sweet, about a paragraph long, and contain various Bible passage references to look up. After each story, there is a "Jesus Calling" reflection (short sentence) that speaks to children as if Jesus was talking directly to them, followed by a scripture verse.

For example, the story "Jesus is Alive" contains a passage reference to look up in Matthew 28. The story is about Mary Magdalene's visit to Jesus' tomb after his death on the cross. The "Jesus Calling" message is, "I am stronger than death. I am strong enough to take care of you always." This is then follow with a verse from Matthew 28:20, "I will be with you always."

I like to call this book the sequel to Jesus Calling for Little Ones. The text included is simple and easy to follow along to. The illustrations by Antonia Woodward, are absolutely precious as they also tell the amazing stories in the Bible by bringing them to life for little ones. Jesus Calling: My First Bible Storybook is a beautiful addition to my son's devotional storybooks. Young children everywhere will delight in this book as they learn about Jesus' unwavering love.
