Perfect Bar: The "Perfect" Snack Option at Home or On the Go

We're coming up to a super busy time of the year in our household, between homeschooling, blogging, and running a household altogether, the change in seasons brings other holidays, for example. With all the hustle and bustle that happens around here in the last few months of the year, having a few quick and easy snack options can really come in handy. Of course with the selection out there, it can sometimes be difficult choosing something that's going to satisfy my craving and be nutritious at the same time. That's why I'm loving our latest snacking craze, the Perfect Bar!

Perfect Bar is sibling-run company — the original recipe was crafted by Bud Keith (aka “Dad”) who was always looking for new ways to feed his king-size family (there are 13 kids!) a fresh snack on the go. One day, he ground up a bunch of organic superfoods, mixed them with freshly ground, organic peanut butter and honey, took one bite, and declared, “it’s perfect!” And, from there, the recipe was born. When their Dad grew ill, the oldest of the 13 Keith kids came together to support their siblings and, inspired by his original recipe, founded Perfect Bar in 2005.

We've been munching on some of the most delightful, freshly grounded peanut butter, almond butter, and cashew butter protein bars! The interesting thing about the Perfect Bar is that it's a refrigerated item. This product is so fresh, they only use organic honey as a natural binder, so refrigeration helps maintain optimal texture and tastiness. There's no need to even worry about cooler bags when taking a Perfect Bar on the go, since they can actually be left out of the refrigerator for up to one week. So whether you are in the car, at the mall, or taking a long hike, you can still enjoy a wholesome, tasty snack without compromising freshness.

The company offers twelve different flavors, which are all gluten-free, soy-free, non-GMO, kosher, and Oregon Tilth Certified Organic. The non-GMO thing is a huge deal for me–the more snack options that we have without worrying about food integrity and safety, the better. With real ingredients, it definitely gives me peace of mind, so I can feel good about eating these and sharing them with my family.

Did I forget to mention that these are an wonderful source of protein? Each bar is packed with up to seventeen grams (in regular size bars) and five grams (in mini bars) of whole food protein. They're also really satisfying. One regular size bar can sustain me for a while without worrying about hunger pangs or sugar crashes. The mini sizes are perfect for those times when you have the munchies, but are not overly hungry. I love that they're just the "perfect" size to throw right in my purse before heading out the door.

We had the chance to try five of the twelve flavors that available:

I love anything with almonds, including almond butter. Needless to say, this was the first one that I dared to dig into, and let me just say it did not disappoint.

This one uses the original Perfect Bar recipe. It's simple, yet delicious and creamy–just perfect for peanut and peanut butter lovers out there.

Whenever something has the word "coconut" on the package, you can sign me up as a taste tester. My love for almonds also matches my love for anything with coconut. Coconut and peanut butter are an interesting combination that surprisingly works really well. These were really enjoyable!

There's something to be said about the tasty combination of peanut butter and chocolate. They are just naturally fantastic together–and this delicious dark chocolate/fresh ground peanut butter combo is no exception.

When I think of perfect combinations (see above), I never really pictured cashew and blueberry to be one of them. What a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed the nutty taste of cashews blended with the sweet taste of dried blueberries.

When I took my first bite of a Perfect Bar, I noticed that they were quite firm, but soon after, the texture changed into a delicious creamy nut butter. Depending on the flavor I was eating, there were also delicious morsels of sweet chocolate chips, sweet blueberries, or crunchy almonds. Although these are considered protein bars, they almost remind me of a dessert bar. Each one has it's own unique flavor, yet one thing is prevalent, the creamy nut butter. One word of advice when eating these, though, having a beverage nearby is a must, because these are really rich. I suggest a large glass of cold milk, but water, coffee, or hot tea will also do just fine! Bottom line, these taste great and keep my hunger at bay.  The only difficult part when trying a Perfect Bar, is actually picking which flavor to try first.
