VeggieTales: Very Veggie 5-Minute Stories + GIVEAWAY

We are total VeggieTales fans here in our home! The fun-loving veggie crew is now back with a brand new book called Very Veggie 5-Minute Stories, and we were so excited to have the chance to get a sneak peak. I'm also happy to announce a special giveaway opportunity for readers. Be sure to stay tuned, below, to find out more!

ABOUT THE BOOK:
Perfect for an on-the-go story time or a quick bedtime reading for sleepy kids, Very Veggie 5-Minute Stories brings fans a new collection of nine VeggieTales adventures. As the Veggie cast stumbles and sprints through hilarious scenarios, children will learn values such as being patient, being responsible, loving others, and doing their best. Full-color illustrations accompany the stories and will hold the attention of the read-to-me set.

There are many reasons that we enjoy VeggieTales. For one, they are a Christian faith-based cartoon, so the themes that are presented in both the books and videos align with our own values and beliefs. They're also quite the funny group of characters with silly antics and adventures waiting around every corner. In this latest book, we were introduced to nine new stories starring Larry the Cucumber, Bob the Tomato, Junior Asparagus, Petunia Rhubarb, and the rest of the gang. Of course, I can forget to mention that most of the stories also include some of the character's alter egos such as Larry Boy, Ottar, and Sheriff Bob. If you or your children have read or watched VeggieTales, before, then you probably already know about these characters. If not, no worries, because this book will introduce you to some of them.

As the title suggests, the book contains stories that take about five minutes or less to read. These are not just quick paragraphs here and there; they are full stories with entire plotlines. At the same time, they are also short and sweet, so they're perfect right before bed, or pretty much anytime of the day when your kids want to read or hear a fun veggie "tale." My son being such a fan of VeggieTales, enjoys when we read several stories at once. I can't blame him, because they are quite fun and entertaining!

Since the entire series has a Christian-based theme, this book offers plenty of lessons about positive values and character traits to help bring children closer to God. Each story has a moral to it. For example, in one story called The Good, the Bad, and the Silly, we follow Cowboy Larry and several of his classmates as they get ready for the big cattle-drive test at Cowboy School. After being persuaded by another classmate to cheat in order to pass the test, he learns that it's never too late to do the right thing, and makes a very important decision, no matter what the consequences may be. Another story, The Chicken Noodle Souper Bowl teaches children about patience and teamwork.

Very Veggie 5-Minute Stories is a great addition to our collection of VeggieTales themed books. My son enjoys the stories, because they are both engaging and fun. I personally love the fact that he can learn important lessons and values such as loyalty, patience, honesty, and responsibility, all in a way that is understandable and age-appropriate for children.
