Holiday Entertainment Picks for the Whole Family {Plus a DVD Prize Pack GIVEAWAY}

Pin It

With Christmas only a few weeks away, it's all about holiday entertainment here in our home. Whether we're listening to our favorite holiday tunes or watching movies and shows that celebrate the season, we've been fully immersing ourselves in everything that's Christmas! If you're looking for new entertainment choices to celebrate the holiday season, here are four picks that are perfect for the entire family!

Enjoy this Christmas special adventure based on the classic picture book that has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide, written by Sam McBratney, illustrated by Anita Jeram and published by Walker Books. On a snow-covered Christmas Eve, Little Nutbrown Hare and his friends stumble across a little Brown Bear who is lost. Determined to return their young friend back to his mother in time for Christmas, the friends venture bravely into the unknown woods. Through this epic journey we are reminded that the greatest gift of Christmas is being with the ones you love.

Guess How Much I Love You has always been a cherished series in our home. Between heartwarming books, to short films that spread the message of family and friendship, what's not to love? I've been reading the books from this series to my son ever since he was a baby, and we still enjoy them to this day. The characters are quite adorable as they interact with each other and the father/son relationship between Little Nut Brown Hare and Big Nutbrown Hare is priceless. In Christmas to the Moon and Back, Little Nutbrown Hare and the gang meet Little Brown Bear, a new friend who appears to have stumbled a little too far from his home. It's up to the precious band of woodland creatures to help him get back home in time for Christmas, so they all embark on a new adventure and discover the importance of being together with the ones you love during the holiday season.

One crisp, winter morning, a young boy wakes up to find a thick blanket of snow has covered the ground as far as the eye can see. Filled with excitement, the boy decides to build a snowman using a tangerine for his nose, coal for his buttons and eyes, and tops him off with a hat and scarf. Later that night, at the stroke of midnight, the snowman comes to life! The young boy and the snowman embark on a magical adventure of discovery where the snowman explores the young boy's world and in return he takes him flying to his home in the North Pole. Upon arriving at the North Pole, the two join a party as the guests of honor to a very special person. Based on Raymond Briggs book, THE SNOWMAN is a family classic for generations to enjoy.

Not only have my son and I been watching this cherished classic ever since he was a wee little guy, but it's one that I, too, watched when I was a little girl. Based on the book, The Snowman is a whimsical tale and a treasure to add to anyone's collection of holiday family films. A little boy builds a snowman during the first major snowfall of the season. That night he wakes up to take a peek at the snowman, when suddenly it comes to life and takes the little boy on a wondrous adventure to the North Pole. There is something very poetic about this movie. It's not a traditional type of Christmas story with a lot of narrative. For the most part, there is beautiful music that plays throughout the entirety of the film. I love how the music tells the story by either intensifying or offering melodic singing to depict the events in the story. The beautiful animation and the musical score combined are really what makes this movie so special.

'Twas the day before Christmas and all through the yard the Cat in the Hat and his guests partied hard. When the party was over, and the guests all departed one poor baby reindeer was left broken-hearted! Can the Cat in the Hat, Sally, Nick and the Fish help make come true little Ralph's Christmas wish? to be with his family, in far-off Freeze-Your-Knees. Will you help see him home? Come be our guests, please!

Not only are we huge Dr. Seuss fans, but we just adore the Cat in the Hat and the fun cartoon episodes that are always chock full of educational entertainment. The Cat In The Hat Knows a Lot About Christmas! is no exception to good children's edutainment, only this time the focus is all about Christmas and there is a lot of fun to be had as the Cat, Nick, and Sally help give a special little reindeer a Christmas that he'll never forget.

Dive into adventure with your favorite underwater explorers, the OCTONAUTS! Join brave Captain Barnacles, daredevil ex-pirate Kwazii, and medic Peso Penguin, along with the other Octonauts as they explore the world's oceans, rescue the creatures who live there, and protect their habitats above and below the waves! On this very merry DVD, join the Octonauts as they celebrate the holidays! #the Vegimals plans for a Christmas feast aboard the Octopod are interrupted when the Octonauts become entangled in a gigantic blob of sea snot! #the holiday excitement continues when the Octonauts travel to Professor Inkling's childhood home, an undersea mountain, but soon discover that a rockslide has endangered the local creatures, including Inkling's nephew, Squirt! Can the Octonauts rescue the creatures and save Christmas in time?

We've been watching a lot of Octonauts, lately. We just can't enough of our favorite underwater explorers, Kwazii, Peso, and Captain Barnacles as they go on their ocean adventures. Of course, the best part of each episode is the fun educational content included. This DVD offers four action packed adventures, including two holiday themed episodes. In Very Vegimal Christmas the gang gets stuck in a layer of marine mucilage and has to find their way out in time for the big holiday feast. In the Great Christmas Rescue, the Octonauts have to rescue some of the local endangered creatures from an underwater rockslide, including a family member of Professor Inkling's. Being whale lovers, we especially enjoyed the two Orca themed episodes that are also included. This is a fun DVD to add to the holiday entertainment collection!

I am happy to announce that I'm giving away a Christmas DVD prize pack! One winner will be chosen to receive all four of the DVDs mentioned, above.

This is a really cute book! One for the bookshelf for the small children that visit my house! My daughter keeps a bookshelf for her babysitting children and this would be a nice addition!
